BROWN JOYFOLD

Good morning everybody,

It's a beautiful sunny morning and I am looking forward to it!

I'm done checking my email including blog updates and figured I should post something too.

I entered a couple of swaps. This card is for a Brown swap. Took me awhile to come up with a nice Brown idea. Hope the swappers like it! I do!.

And off I go to a busy day. Walk the girls to school, which is a good way to get a walk in for myself. Need to put some wallpaper up and hopefully get some painting in. All this besides stamping! Right?

Have a great day!

CRACKED GLASS

Hi there,

I'm playing with my stamps. I'm trying out some cards for a technique swap I am in. I entered for the 'cracked glass' technique. You can find the tutorial here http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/crackedglass.php I really like this technique! Quite easy, yet it has such a great detail.

I used the LOVELY AS A TREE stamp set and the FRENCH SCRIPT as background on the chocolate chip. The paper I used is ALWAYS ARTICHOKE, CHOCOLATE CHIP, CLOSE TO COCOA and VANILLA. Did some sponging on the edges and also tried the photo corners.

I AM STILL ALIVE

Wow, it's Wednesday again! It's been a whole week since I last posted. I am so sorry! Unfortunately our family came down with a stomach flu which was quite persistant and long lasting, so I got it too and obviously did not feel like stamping or bloging. Fortunately we are all over it again. Just one of those things in life we have to live with.
Feeling not that great brought me to the thought if I should even keep on blogging. Mind you, I am enjoying it. It has been a challenge for me, it has made me stamp more and get out of my box. But that is all for myself. I am not sure what good this blog is for YOU. Why do you come back, or why don't you come back. There are so many stamp related blogs out there, and very good ones too. I don't know if I should be taking up more space. Please, if you are still reading this rambling, give me your opinion. I would love to hear from you. I think this thought of stoping partly came because I had not had a comment in awhile and that did discourage me a bit, as part of my reason for blogging is to get to know new people. So, please leave a comment.
I did make a card yesterday for a swap I am in. I'll post it later as right now I am in the middle of some home organization, which is desperately needed!

COLOR CHALLENGE AND SCETCH CHALLENGE COMBO

So I finally got around to some stamping. Yesterday I wanted to try the color challenge on SCS, but just could not come up with a layout the convinced me. Today is the Wednesday scetch challenge, so I decided to combine these two. The color challenge was: Red Rose, Appricot Appeal and Tempting Turquoise. Since I do not have either ink or paper in turquoise, I had to improvise, and Poppin' Pastels came to the rescue. So for the tempting turquiose layer I versamarked the Floral Background and stamped it on White confetti, then I took some cotton balls and with my pastels I added it to the versamark. I do have the prima and lace in that color, so I HAD to use those.

Thanks for looking!

BLOOD DIAMOND!

I know this is totally NOT stamping related, but I just have to make a comment. Have you seen the movie BLOOD DIAMOND? My dh and I watched it last night. Oh my goodness! I don't ever want to have a diamond again. If this is what the poor people have to go through just for me to have a little luxury, something I really don't need, I definitely don't want it. It made me so sad how these rebels could make these young boys HATE their fathers and make them think that their fathers are their enemies. How they could just drive into a town or village and just shoot everybody in sight. It just blows me away. And most of all the I am here living life, with the normal problems and don't realize what is going on because it is not important enough to be on the news??? I just had to talk about it. I want to find out more about how the situation is now. Would love to hear your comments.

CARDS RECEIVED THROUGH A SWAP

Hi there,

How is your day? I had a great MAIL day. I entered a 5+1 floral card swap and received them today. This swap was hosted by corrosive69 Janet Rossi. Thank you Janet for hosting this great swap. I want to show you the great cards I got: Unfortunately I cannot give credit to who made most of these cards. Names were not included except 1.

This is a great card made with Roses in Winter. Can't believe this set is retiring! I also love the colors.

This card is a larger size. I really like the extra vellum layer.

I just love the sparkly flowers. Wonder if it is pearl-ex?

I particularly like this card. I like the splattered color on the brown and the white mesh gives it a great detail. This card was made by "winterbloom".

This last card must have been a lot of work. It is put together with strips of paper, like a quilt. Gorgeous! This card was made by Cristine! Thank you all! I love them!

MOTHER'S DAY MEMORIES

Hello everybody!

Hope you all had a wonderful MOTHER'S DAY!

We had a relaxing day at home, which was perfect! It was also my BIL's birthday. So we celebrated with a BBQ and a cake. And my dh and bil watched 2 of the GODFATHER movies, which I didn't really had a chance to get into as I got interrupted quite frecuently.

My 2 dd's both gave me some handmade gifts.

Melanie gave me this bright floral card and a pillowcase on which she ahd drawn 'my' face. Somehow it was transfered to the pillowcase with sandpaper? Have to get more detailed information from her yet.

Vanessa made a little book. The cover is fabric with great colors.
The book reads like this:

JUST ME AND MY MOM

I wanted to give you a par of sunglasses

for Mother's Day but I did not

I wanted to buy you a dress

for Mother's Day, but it was to expensive

I wanted to pick you a flower

for Mother's Day, but I did not know what kind

I wanted to dreow a picture

For Mother's Day but I forgot

So I think I'll just give you a hug, and wish you

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!
(spelling mistakes are my dd spelling. She is 6)
Have a great day!

SORRY FOR BEING MIA!

Hi there,
I want to appologize for not having posted much this week. This week has been full of LIFE, which did not leave me any time to stamp. I am hoping I will get back to stamping in the near future.
GOD BLESS YOU ALL ON MOTHER'S DAY!

WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT?

Hi!

So I'm finally going to post something! It was about time. Hope you hadn't given up on me yet.

Today's card was made with a totally 'not me' color combo. The inspiration for this card came from this card: http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/516925, so I had to use some dp. I decided to use the paper I received recently again. And this is the color combo I came up with: Bashful Blue, Sage Shadow, Ruby Red. I would not have come up with this combo on my own. I used 2 retiring sets for this card: In Full Bloom and Winged Things. This card is for my SIL's Bday. Hope she likes it.

LINK: JACOB'S LADDER TUTORIAL

I've been wondering how these work, so I was glad when I came across the toturial. Check it out on Beate's blog http://beate.blogs.splitcoaststampers.com/2007/05/07/jacobs-ladder-tutorial/#more-787.
As for me, I'm having a lack of mojo. Trying desperately to get inspired. NEED to get a Bday card into the mail. It's going into Mexico and that takes FOREVER. I'll have something soon!

FIRST COASTER FRAME

It's my husband's birthday on Sunday May 6. And I am having a hard time coming up with a good birthday present. So I had this idea to make a coaster frame with pictures of our kidos which he could put up in his office. I'm not sure if I am satisfied with it. I tried to make it look oldish, so I printed the photos in sepia. I used the spring flowers paper and sanded the edges and sponged with brown. For the hinges I used the round tab punch from the SU spring mini and added some brads. Now I would really appreciate your comment: Would you give this as a gift?

ENJOYING MY DECORATIVE PAPERS!

Hi! So, as I've told you I have a ton of cards to make in May. Today's card is for my friend's birthday next week. It's been a challenge for me to come up with something new everyday, so I have to find inspiration form anywhere. Today, I decided to use the great paper I got the other day again. And because it has a great design on both sides, I wanted both sides to be seen. It also came up with a new color combo I would not have thought of on my own: Marigold Morning, Sage Shadow and Appricot Appeal. Here it is:

SO GRATEFUL

I got another great package in the mail! I won some blog candy from Julia Stainton's blog http://bellepapier.blogs.splitcoaststampers.com/. Here is what I won: A whole box of Primas, A velvet ribbon and 16 6X6 pieces of patterned paper.
I made a THANK YOU card for Julia using the faboulus paper and flowers I just got. I coordinated the patterned paper with certainly celery and bashful blue. I did some piercing and added a brad to the primas. I also used the sentiment from the gift I got from Paper Pretties. I stamped the background with 'French Script' (who would have thought it would be retired!).
May is a very buys CARD month. Lots of birthdays! So I have to get working!!
