PAPER EMBROIDERY

I can't believe that it has almost been a week since I posted. Time is just flying too fast for me.
I tried something new today. I was trying to do yesterday's Technique Lover's challenge on SCS, which was the dahlia fold. But, I cannot get those circles to fold nicely. I must be the only one who can't make these. There were so many nice cards made with this technique. Anyway, on the site where the instruction for the dahlia fold are, I came across paper embroidery and in peeked my curiosity. So I took a look, and this is what I found, and I just HAD to try it. When I was a kid I made the nail and thread art and really enjoyed it. This is basically the same technique, only you use needle and thread instead of hammer and nails. It's not a card I will make often, but I will probably try it again, with a different design sometime.
I embroidered the flower onto vellum paper, which I glued onto Almost Amethyst DP. The thread is from my existing stash of DMC yarn from my cross-stitching hobby. So, no stamping involved in today's card.
Thank you for dropping by. Hope you are having a wonderful day!

SBS1 CARD CHALLENGE: BROWN/VANILLA

Here is my contribution to the SBS1 card challenge. I have found out with my stamping that I really like brown. And brown and vanilla is kind of vintagy (is that a word?),which is also something I like. So this is a great challenge. I decided to use the stamp I got as a blog candy. I like it! I also used the mono multi adhesive. What can I say? It's really good to work with. SU sells it now too.

SIMPLE

I finally made a card again. I decided to make a simple card. The reason for this is that my mojo seems to have gone on vacation, or maybe even moved. It did not leave me any way to get in touch with it either, so I have to do my best without it. The inspiration for this card comes from this card I saw on SCS yesterday. When I say it, I just said to myself "This is what I want to CASE". As you see, I have basically only used the sketch for my card. I do not have the paper and stamps that were used.

The color of my card is Rose Red.

HAPPY MAIL DAY!

Look what I got in the mail today! I won a blog candy from Trish and this is what she sent me.
I am looking forward to using this stamp. Have to find how to mount it yet. I know there have been instructions on some blogs somewhere, so no I have to go look for them. Should have paid more attention when I saw them, but then I did not need the information. You know how it is.
And I absolutely LOVE this card Trish sent with the candy.
Now, off to working on something I go.

A TOTAL CARS FAN!

I just HAVE to share this photo with you. Our son Matthew is such a CARS fan so when he saw McQueen and Mater in CALIFORNIA ADVENTURE he was so excited. He could hardly wait in line for our turn to take a picture, and he definitely did not want to leave. My dh actually had to go back there with him again later. As you see, we couldn't get him to look at the camera. In my opinion, CARS is one of the best kids movies ever made.

2 NEPHEWS BIRTHDAY CARDS ON THE WAY! SK158 KICK STAND

So, I told you guys that I have a 6 bday cards to make in January. 5 of our 9 nieces and nephews have a birthday in January. Don't know what magic April must have LOL!
So I worked on these cards today.

I do not have anything else I can use for boys cards. I desperately need something!!!
So I used the retired KIDS AT PLAY SU set. The balloons are from a different retired SU set, which I don't have a name for. The Sentiment is a clear G Studio stamp. I have not used clear stamps much yet. I seem to have trouble with them using SU classic ink. So I used a COLORBOX pigment ink with it, which seemed to work okay. Glad it worked, but I'm not sure what ink I will use if I want to use a different color. Just happened to have this color that worked for me.
I'm kind of glad that these cards are for boys. I just was not able to come up with anything to embellish them. Seems like when PMS hits, it hits hard and takes any mojo I have with it.
I used the SCS sketch challenge 158 for the card layout. When I first saw the layout, I didn't think I would be able to work with it, but I decided to try it today.
Have a great weekend everybody!!

SKETCH CHALLENGE 155 - KIND OF LATE

I made this birthday card for one of my dh's workers. She is the only women working with a bunch of guys. At the companie's Christmas Dinner we were talking about birthdays and she mentioned that her birthday, Jan 5, is usually not thought of. I just want to let her know that even though she has a birthday close to Christmas, she is being thought of on her birthday. So, when I told my dh, he decided to get a cake for her too. I hope she has a special day.

My card started out being inspired by this card, but I did not completely want to CASE it. So I fumbled for awhile with what to do with these flowers. I went to SCS to get more inspiration and came across SC155. I enjoy doing these challenges and had not come around to using this one.
Details:
Paper: Perfect Plum, Choc. Chip, Vanilla, Watercolor Paper 90lb
Stamps: In Full Bloom (revived), Itty Bitty Background, Warmest Regards, Floral Background

WISHING YOU A HAPPY AND BLESSED 2008!

And yes, we're back. We had a good trip to LA. The kids totally enjoyed disneyland. It was especially fun to see Matthew's face when he saw Mater and Mcqueen, he was so excited. If you have ever seen a CARS fan, it's my little boy. Unfortunately Vanessa got sick, so we did spend a day at the hotel. My dh and his brother went to Universal Studios, which I was told, would not have been very much fun for the kids. So, that's okay. On Sunday, the weather was so nice that we just did not want to leave, so we went to the beach for a little while. Please don't ask me which beach we went to, we just drove. We didn't have an LA map, so we just went west. I believe it was somewhere around Santa Monica. Absolutely beautiful sand, and such beautiful waves coming in. Oh! It was so relaxing. So, my dh thought there should be some good seafood restaurant around (since we are at the beach), but we didn't find a good one. Coming into LA we had seen a Red Lobster near Magic Mountain, so that's were we had lunch. That was a good start for our trip home.

Now, to more serious rambling. So, the new year is a good time to make resolutions. I've not been good at keeping them, and have not really made any. But this year I am hoping for a NEW start. Last year was a hard year for us, and a new beginning sounds good. A fresh start, new hope. So I do want to make some resolutions, which will help for this year to be a better year. I also thought that it might be more effective if I write them down, not just make them in my mind. If you feel like keeping me accountable, please feel free to do so
1.- I want to read the Bible everyday. (Do need to find the right time to do this, when kids, and other things will not interrupt this time.
2.- I want to manage my time better. This includes not being a procrastinator
3.- I want to start a Journal. I also want to start my girls on one too.

I am already feeling a bit overwhelmed. These are big steps for me. As to my stamping here are my resolutions:
1.- Make something everyday (except weekends), instead of just looking at what you guys do.
2.- Keep my crafting more organized
3.- Make cards for everybody on my bday list.
This means that I should be stamping already, instead of rambling. Of our 9 nieces and nephews, 4 of them have a bday in January. So I have to get stamping to get their cards in the mail.

So, I hope you have a blessed 2008 and please keep on coming by. I love reading your comments.
