I HAVE ACTUALLY UPLOADED A CARD ON MY BLOG. IT HAS BEEN FOREVER.

I have a soft spot for Magnolia stamps' Tilda. I got her from http://www.magnolialicious.ca. I believe it is Tilda with Vintage Roses, but am not certain. I colored her with copics. I've been enjoying using them too. Also used another of my favorite toys, which are dies and the cuttlebug.

I had been thinking about this card for a number of days and never go around to making it. I have had some Twinkling H2Os for awhile, but have never used them. I was thinking that I would like to try them out on Shimmery White SU paper. I also used some watercolor pencils. It honestly did not take long to make. Should have done it sooner.

SPLITCOAST CHALLENGE: WAYS TO USE IT: ENCOURAGEMENT

I have not been crafting much this year as yet. I still go and see what's going on at Splitcoaststampers and check out their challenges and such. So today I was inspired to participate in the Ways to use it Challenge. There is always somebody we know who can use some encouragment. So, here is my creation:

I don't know why, but my cards always turn out a bit differently then I had anicipated. I do not have a photographic memory and cannot 'SEE' a complete image in my brain as some people can i.e., my hubby. Guess that might have something to do with it. But I think I am quite satisfied with this card.
The technique I used is one that I have seen being used with this set Fifth Ave. Florals, which uses shimmery white paper, on which you emboss the image in white and then spray with water and add color with reinkers. I had this image lying around, so I decided to use it.

APRIL SHOWERS BRING MAY FLOWERS

I just received a package in the mail with a swap I participated in. It is a Magnolia calendar swap in the Magnolia-licious yahoo group. My month is April. It was quite fun to make.

I used 2 different images to create this image. The background actually has a sun shinning behind the clouds, but I thought that I could hide the sun with Tilda. Colored the image with copics. Did some sponging for a bit of a cloud effect in the sky. For the puddle and raindrops I used a clear glaze pen.

THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS SYMPATHY CARD

I made this card for a friend of mine who lost her Grandfather, and who she and her family were quite close too.

As you can see, I am enjoying using the same technique I used in my previous card. I had not made a sympathy card before and was a bit intimidated with the idea, but I think it came out quite nice.

LOL! Can you believe it? I made a card (completed) before breakfast. I know, I know, it is a simple card. But that was the point. I was bloghopping this morning as I was going through my email and I came across this challenge on the Magnolia-licious Highlites Blog, who have a challenge to make a CAS card. So I decided to make it right away.

The card is quite simple. The detail I like about it is the oval in the middle of the cuttlebugged paper. I cannot take credit for this. It is something I learned from my friend Kerry. Kerry learned this from her friend Patty. But here is the way it is done. You need an oval negative to achieve this. I used a paper frame I found at the dollar store. I separated the front from the back of the frame. For my cuttlebug sandwich I used the A plate, added the cuttlebug folder with paper and then the oval negative over it placed on the spot where you don't want the cuttlebug folder to show, and last the C plate.
This is how it worked for me as the oval negative is quite thick. You can probably find different ways to do this. Kerry used 2 layers of cardstock out of which she had cut the oval. Patty used a wooden frame.

And I mean FINALLY I am able to log into my blog!! I was not able to sign into my blog for quite awhile. For some strange reason I was not able to normally sign in, so I have finally found an unusual way of signing in and I can post again!! YEAY!!!
And yes, I have created something!

This card is almost a total CASE of Cheryl Rowley's card here. I was browsing through SCS to find inspiration because I was not coming up with something on my own. (I know that is quite sad) I have been admiring Cheryl's creations for quite awhile already, so when I saw this card I knew what to make.

Details:
I used my favorite SU DP Parizian Breeze. So sorry it's not in the new catty!! It is layered on Baja Breeze and Choc. Chip.
I colored Tilda with Copics. Used the Nestabilities, Labels 4 and sponged it with Close to Cocoa. The ribbon was a remnant I took off of a notepad I had lying around.

BLOG NAME CHANGE!

So, as I mentioned at the end of my previous post, I am seriously thinking that I should change the name of my blog. It is definitely NOT a Corner of enchantment, other than the enchantment being extremely hidden who knows where. LOL!
So, I have decided that I want to reward you readers that still come by faithfully by asking you to name my blog and rewarding you for it.
So what I would like for you to do is make a comment and give me a name you think I should use and also let me know what you would like as a reward, i.e. flowers, embellishments, stamps, etc. Please don't announce this, as this is for YOU my faithful ones. CAN YOU BELIEVE IT? I MADE SOMETHING!

Yes, I know I've not spent much time in my craft room at all this month. The weather has been too great!! Have to enjoy the sun and my flowers, need to put some more in yet.
Anyway, I was asked to make THANK YOU cards for the helpers at our Mom's group at church. Every Fri. morning we get together and there are a group of ladies who take care of our pre-schoolers for us. We then have different activities. Yesterday we filled some pots with flowers for our helpers, so I decided to make the flower pot card for them.

I used SU Kraft as the flower put. Sent it through the cuttlebug with one of the SU texture plates and sponged SU craft choc. chip over it and the scalloped edge. The flowers are SU TIME WELL SPENT colored with SU markers. I just have a few colors in makers, but since I was making 8 cards I wanted to color with markers to make it faster. I also wanted the card to be able to stand up, so I doubled the size of the interior piece and scored it in half to help it stand. So there you have my creation for the month.

FRAMED TILDA

I LOVE making frames. This one is a gift to a special friend who has been a great inspiration to me lately and has helped me get out of my lack of stamping and crafting mojo.

The details are:
For the frame I used the SU TEA PARTY DP. The edges of the frame are sponged with SU Craft Choc. Chip ink. The flourish is also sponged with the same ink.
The image which is a Magnolia image of Tilda with garland, was stamped with VersaFine Smokey Gray and colored with Prisma color pencils and baby oil.
The background fence is a stamp which I found at a local discount store and think it suite perfectly with Tilda. Tilda's dress is paper pieced with the same DP. The flower centers are liquid pearl gold.

Can you believe me posting twice in one day? I've got you used to posting once a week or so, but today is the exception. Can't promise that I will be able to do this often!! I AM THE SLOWEST CARDMAKER EVER IMO!!! I know Ann thinks she holds this title, but I disagree with her, as she posts more often then I do. LOL!

I'm not exactly sure what to think of this rolodex card. I borrowed this set from a friend, but after I stamped it, I just was not sure what to do with it. So here it is, and I would love to hear your opinion.

I joined another Rolodex Scripture swap and this is one of my cards. I love all the different varieties that the ladies come up with and the different verses. So many great verses.

The crochet flower is hand made by myself with a little ribbon.

Hi there,

Here is my version of SCS TLC215. It has become quite a popular card. It took me forever to complete mine. Not that it is hard to make at all, but unfortunately I had to make it in pieces. A little bit here and there. I needed a Thank You card, so that is what I made it for.

Details:
I used the SU TIME WELL SPENT retired hostess set for the flowers. I colored them with watercolor pencils.
The dp is some paper I got at Costco a long time ago. I combined it with SU Pumpkin? (My catalog is missing)

I know this is quite a simple card, and I should not even bother to post it. But I know there are a few faithful friends that come by and I want to Thank you for it too. So consider this a THANK YOU card for keeping up with me!!

MY EASTER CARD

I hope you all had a wonderfully blessed Easter!!

This is the Easter card I made for family and close friends and I want to share it with you too.
When I saw this set used by several great stampers from the Our Daily Bread gallery, I knew this was the one I needed to have for my Easter card. My excuse also was that I never got around to making Christmas cards, so I was going to make Easter cards as these 2 celebrations are totally linked to each other: the birth, death and resurrection of our Saviour Christ Jesus. Can't celebrate one without the other.

I really had fun coming up with this card. So here is how I made it:
The cardstock color is SU So Saffron. I textured it with the SU textures diamond shape in the cuttlebug. It took me awhile to come up with the right sandwich to get a good texture. So here it is: A plate, texture plate, cardstock, 2 pieces of mating and the B plate. I know it is different than what I have seen others use, but this is what worked best for me.
The verse is gold embossed on Very Vanilla SU and a Nestabilities Label 2.
I stamped the flower with Stasz-On Timber Brown on Shimmery White SU and used the Watercolor pencils to color it. For an extra embellishment I added 3 gold brads.

I have a terrible head cold, so I am not planning on doing anything big today, except for coming up with an idea for supper and stamping!!

DOUBLE CASE

First of all I want to thank you for your comforting and supportive comments!! Thank you my friends!! Life has changed somewhat, but we'll make it work. My dh is working some hours as he is the general manager of the business, so he feels he needs to be there to keep things running. But I am the designated driver as his vision has been affected by the stroke. So, today we are going to Whistler on some business and tomorrow to Seattle. This means that I really don't have much time to craft as I usually am ready to go to sleep as soon as my kids are in bed. But I do have a project to show you guys.

This project was inspired by two projects I found on SCS. This on by Stampin Di and this one by heather freeman Thank you so much ladies for this great inspiration.
I have loved the SCS Top Note Die from the first time I saw it. So, now that I got the cuttlebug, I had to get it too. And when I saw the quilted card by Stampin Di I just HAD to make one too. The DP is an SU set. Unfortunately I don't have the catalog available at the moment. I do believe it is Afternoon Teaparty? Correct me if I'm wrong. The crochet flower is one I made. I've crochet a little, so I figured I could make them myself too. It took me a whole of 10 min. The sentiment is from 'Reason to Smile' a retired SU hostess set. So there you have it, a DOUBLE CASE from me to you!

I just thought I should share with you that I have not been online because my husband had a stroke. It was very sudden and he is quite young to have one. So, it has been quite scary. SKETCH CHALLENGE 218? NOT!!!

The one challenge I mostly play along with is the sketch challenge on SCS. So last Wednesday I was inspired by this card to participate. And since I have the same set and had not used it yet, I was definitely inspired. I was also inspired by Gina K's Stamp TV episode on coloring with mineral oils. I have had several prisma colors and have never used them, and since I had also read somewhere that baby oil can be used, I decided to try it. I really liked the result. Unfortunately, I had overdone some things and did not like the end result. So I decided to use watercoloring on 140lb watercolor paper. But again I was not happy. The image was not clear. So I decided to use the prisma colors and baby oil again. It is not perfect, but I'll keep on practicing with these colors.
Now onto the sketch challenge. My image was to large, so I had to make it work differently. I've had the jazz wheel for quite awhile and had not used it. Thought it would work well with this card.

DETAILS:
CS: SU whisper white, bravo burgandy, choc. chip & close to cocoa
Stamps: SU Musical Expressions, Jazz Wheel (retired)
Ink: Versafina - smokey gray, SU- choc. chip
Technique: Prisma colors with Baby oil

I have to show off this card that my daughter Melanie made. We celebrated her 10th birthday with some of her friends last week Saturday, and this is one of the Thank You cards she made to give to them.

She did the whole thing on her own!! The swirls and star flourish is copper embossed. This is something she find really COOL! I'm quite proud of her accomplishment!

MY TAKE ON SCS SKETCH CHALLENGE 216

This morning I woke up at 5:00am. I did my best to fall asleep again, but it didn't work. So, since I had checked the sketch challenge before I went to sleep last night, my mind started formulating a card and I decided that I should actually make it in real life. So here it is:

I decided to use the Crafty Secrets Sweet Kids set, and instead of the rectangular layer over the circles, I used the sleeping girl in the hammock to hang from my "clouds". I had fun participating.

I know I have wanted to post something, but we got a surprise visit this week. My SIL came to visit us for the week from Mexico, so of course I could not spend my time on here. My SIL enjoys crafting just as much as myself, so we did work on some projects for her which I do want to show you.

ROLODEX SCRIPTURE SWAP - PART 1

So I have not been able to work on something everyday. But as I said, every day is a new day to start fresh.
This project is for a Rolodex Scripture swap I am in on SCS.
The image is a Thomas Kinkade image from CHF, which I received from a stamping friend through a swap. I absolutely LOVE his painting. It is the first time I used this image as I am a bit intimidated. I colored it using chalks, blender pen and aquapainter. The verse I printed off the computer.
I have another 3 different ones to make. I am looking forward to receive 24 different ones!!

I want to wish you all a great year. Filled with joy, peace, hope, love and lots of creative mojo!! I know, I know it is Jan. 2nd already. I should have done this yesterday, but I didn't get to it. But I did do this:

I do not really like to make New Year's resolutions as I find that I get discouraged if I don't keep them, but I am actually making some everyday resolutions. In my opinion everyday is a good day to start something or keep something going. So something I am trying to do is to create and work on a project everyday Mon-Fri. So this is my first project. My dd Melanie wanted to make a card for an aunt who is in the hospital, and she picked THE WILD ROSE SU set, which needs the stampamagig. Since I have not used it very much either, we both practiced with it. I have also not used stickles and liquid pearls, so I incorporated these too. I probably will not do it the same way again, but I am satisfied with my first try. The colors I used are: Old Olive as base card; stamped the image with Rose Red on Apricot Appeal. I wanted to use Apricot Appeal with Regal Rose, but my Regal Rose is MISSING. This is not a good thing as it is my favorite pink color. I have looked high and low for it. I must say that my craft space has been moved around several times during the year, so it probably went missing because of this. I must say that now I have my OWN CRAFT ROOM upstairs and I am happy with it. I believe my mojo has come back. I am looking forward to creating again.

Now I have to see what I am going to work on today! Hope to hear from you. Love to read your comments.

MY FIRST LONG CARD - A WEDDING CARD

I need to apologize for not posting, especially to Velta who asked me to share my creations. I have actually been creating, but unfortunately my camera is not working. So, now I have to wait and buy a new camera. I have been making picture frames, which I cannot scan.

Today's card is a card a cousin asked me to make for her. She wanted it to be money/gift holder, so I thought that a long card would work better as such. I have never made a wedding card yet (other than our wedding invitations), so I hope she will be satisfied with it. As I do not know what colors they are using, I thought that black, white (shimmery white) and gold would be appropriate. The stamp is a VERVE set, which I received as a blog-candy awhile back.

I finally got another one, so I am able to show you the card I made for last week's TLC Challenge on SCS. I had seen several of these cards on SCS and was fascinated by them, so I had to try it out when it came as a challenge.

WORLD CARDMAKING DAY - ONE DAY LATE!

Since yesterday Oct. 4th was World Cardmaking Day, I decided to make a card. Unfortunately I did not finish it. I did the coloring of the image based on the DP I had, but could not come up with a layout. And since it was Saturday, I got interrupted by numerous things, i.e. my kids. So, today I decided to finish my card. And fortunately while going through my emails and looking at my blog subscriptions I came upon this great card by Amy Sheffer which is using a sketch by Jen del Muro, and it looked perfect for my card. So here you have it.

The stamp is an image by Crafty Secrets' Sweet Kids.
DP is Daisy Bucket Designs
Cardstock: SU Close to Cocoa, and Pumpkin Pie
I watercolored the image with SU watercolor pencils.

Today's TLC on Splitcoaststampers, inspired me to craft with my daughters. I had bought them LITTLE WOMEN and BLACK BEAUTY last weekend, and both of them are enjoying their reading. So I figured this was a perfect project for them as they did not have any bookmarks.
I helped them with the papercutting, but they used their beads and did the coloring of the images.

Hi there,
Can you believe that I am actually posting a card I made? I hardly can. In my defense I have made several altered things and unfortunately my camera is not working so I have not been able to post them. For this card I used the scanner.

My dh asked me to make a THANK YOU card for a friend of his, so I had not excuse not to stamp. This was Monday, so I looked at the TLC challenge on SCS and decided to try it. So made a card on Monday, which I did not upload because of time. I decided to make another one to be able to post it.
As fall is coming and the trees are starting to change into beautiful colors, I decided to use that as my inspiration for color.
The colors are SU colors: Close to Cocoa, Almost Artichoke, Marigold Morning ('07 In color) and Cameo Corral.
The images : SU Lovely as a Tree, Easy Elegance (sentiment)

Okay, yes, it has been awhile again. But.... I really don't have a better excuse than kids and life and low mojo.
So, I've been wanting to make a rolodex for awhile, after seeing all the great rolodexes. But I didn't really want to buy one. (I know, cheapo. But I'd rather buy stamps!!) I've also seen these great boxes so I decided to make an ADDRESS BOX. And here it is.
I think it is quite self explanatory. I did use an additional piece of cardboard for the box and covered it with cardstock and DP (Afternoon teatime SU). I wanted to add ADDRESS BOX or something to it, but I was having the hardest time lining the letters up right, so I've not done that yet. I have to be honest. This is not quite what I had in mind, but for some reason, it's just not coming to me right now. Would love to read your comments on how to dress this up a little more.

OH NO!! NO STAMPING FOR A WEEK!

I did not get to stamp all week. The week just went by with LIFE taking over and not leaving me any time to stamp. I have been working on a list of projects. Those that HAVE to be done and those that I WANT to do. There are a few that HAVE to be done during this next week. It is my dd's last week of school, so I have to make something for their teacher. That is such a hard one, especially for a male teacher. Any ideas?
There are also some projects I have been playing with in my mind: I want to make a kitchen gift set for my sister. She loves cherries and ever since I saw the Sweet and Tangy set in SU I have been thinking of her. I have the set now and the DP which goes with it, so now I'm trying to come up with the best way to use it.
Anyway, I thought I'd leave you with my FAVORITE gallery on SCS in case you have nothing better to do. I've got quite a few items in there already!! Always go here for inspiration, when needed.

TILDA & CO. SWIRL CHALLENGE

I absolutely LOVE the TILDA stamps. I found this challenge on the Tilda & Col Challenge Blog to use swirls. As much as I love these stamps, I have been a bit hesitant in using them, as I've seen such amazing creation with them. I just recently bought the aquapainter and I have been practicing with it. I am finding that I really enjoy watercoloring. I think this is my new favorite technique. I have done some decorative painting with acrilics, but have not done any watercoloring before. This challenge also gave me the opportunity to use a maya road flourish which I was able to buy at our LSS for 50% off!

SCS SKETCH CHALLENGE 180

I am finally doing a sketch challenge again. It actually came together pretty easy. I decided to use the image and paper which I had put together for a swap, which is "Card kits with a twist". We just put paper, dp, ribbon, a stamped image, an embellishment in a bag, and get different ones back. So these are the papers and image I sent for this swap. The image is from the SU Spring Song set, DP is SU Teatime (I think), the sentiment is an MFT stamp. colors SU Cert. Celery, Bashful Blue and Close to Cocoa.

Hi there! Hope you all had a great weekend! We had a normal weekend. Nothing out of the ordinary, same weather, etc... But that's good too! (except for the weather, please warm up already!!)
Anyway, I made this card during last week. Unfortunately my camera is not working and I had taken the scanner over for my dh to use. They moved into a new location and did not have their scanner set up yet. So, needless to say, I had no way of uploading it.
I am very sorry that I cannot take a picture of it. It is much more impressive. I finally used my Blooming Beautiful ? set. I watercolored the image with the aquapainter and inkpads. I've finally found something I really like to do!! The image is popped up on shimmery white paper. The background is floral. I gold embossed some AMUSE flourishes and added a little hodgepodge frame with gold embossed Always SU Small Script.
I WANT to do a lot of stamping. There are so many projects in my head that I don't know where to start. Any suggestions?

11 STEP PROGRAM TO PREPARE FOR PARENTHOOD.

I found this while I was blog hopping and just had to share it with you. I found it on Joanne's blog and asked for permission to post it on my blog, and I got it.
Every now and then we can use a good laugh.

Thinking of Having Kids?
Do this 11 step program first!

Lesson 1
1. Go to the grocery store.
2. Arrange to have your salary paid directly to their head office.
3. Go home.
4. Pick up the paper.
5. Read it for the last time.

Lesson 2
Before you finally go ahead and have children, find a couple who already are parents and berate them about their...
1. Methods of discipline.
2. Lack of patience.
3. Appallingly low tolerance levels.
4. Allowing their children to run wild.
5. Suggest ways in which they might improve their child's breastfeeding, sleep habits, toilet training, table manners, and overall behavior.
Enjoy it because it will be the last time in your life you will have all the answers.

Lesson 3
A really good way to discover how the nights might feel...
1. Get home from work and immediately begin walking around the living room from 5PM to 10PM carrying a wet bag weighing approximately 8-12 pounds, with a radio turned to static (or some other obnoxious sound) playing loudly. (Eat cold food with one hand for dinner)
2. At 10PM, put the bag gently down, set the alarm for midnight, and go to sleep.
3. Get up at 12 and walk around the living room again, with the bag, until 1AM.
4. Set the alarm for 3AM.
5. As you can't get back to sleep, get up at 2AM and make a drink and watch an infomercial.
6. Go to bed at 2:45AM.7. Get up at 3AM when the alarm goes off.
8. Sing songs quietly in the dark until 4AM.
9. Get up. Make breakfast. Get ready for work and go to work (work hard and be productive)Repeat steps 1-9 each night. Keep this up for 3-5 years. Look cheerful and together.

Lesson 4
Can you stand the mess children make? To find out...
1. Smear peanut butter onto the sofa and jam onto the curtains
2. Hide a piece of raw chicken behind the stereo and leave it there all summer.
3. Stick your fingers in the flower bed.
4. Then rub them o n the clean walls.
5. Take your favorite book, photo album, etc. Wreck it.
6. Spill milk on your new pillows. Cover the stains with crayons.
How does that look?

Lesson 5
Dressing small children is not as easy as it seems.
1. Buy an octopus and a small bag made out of loose mesh.
2. Attempt to put the octopus into the bag so that none of the arms hang out.
Time allowed for this - all morning.

Lesson 6
Forget the BMW and buy a mini-van. And don't think that you can leave it out in the driveway spotless and shining. Family cars don't look like that.
1. Buy a chocolate ate ice cream cone and put it in the glove compartment. Leave it there.
2. Get a dime. Stick it in the CD player.
3. Take a family size package of chocolate cookies. Mash them into the back seat. Sprinkle cheerios all over the floor, then smash them with your foot.
4. Run a garden rake along both sides of the car.

Lesson 7
Go to the local grocery store. Take with you the closest thing you can find to a pre-school child. (A full-grown goat is an excellent choice). If you intend to have more than one child, then definitely take more than one goat. Buy your week's groceries without letting the goats out of your sight. Pay for everything the goat eats or destroys. Until you can easily accomplish this, do not even contemplate having children.

Lesson 8
1. Hollow out a melon.
2. Make a small hole in the side.
3. Suspend it from the ceiling and swing it from side to side.
4. Now get a bowl of soggy Cheerios and attempt to spoon them into the swaying melon by pretending to be an airplane.
5. Continue until half the Cheerios are gone.
6. Tip half into your lap. The other half, just throw up in the air.You are now ready to feed a nine- month-old baby.

Lesson 9
Learn the names of every character from Sesame Street , Barney, Disney, the Teletubbies, and Pokemon. Watch nothing else on TV but PBS, the Disney channel or Noggin for at least five years. (I know, you're thinking What's 'Noggin'?) Exactly the point.

Lesson 10
Make a recording of Fran Drescher saying 'mommy' repeatedly. (Important: no more than a four second delay between each 'mommy'; occasional crescendo to the level of a supersonic jet is required). Play this tape in your car everywhere you go for the next four years. You are now ready to take a long trip with a toddler.

Lesson 11
Start talking to an adult of your choice.. Have someone else continually tug on your skirt hem, shirt- sleeve, or elbow while playing the 'mommy' tape made from Lesson 10 above. You are now ready to have a conversation with an adult while there is a child in the room.

Oh my! It's over a week since I posted again. Sheesh! Time just flies too fast.
Life just kind of takes priority over stamping sometimes.
My project today is my dh's birthday present (part of it). A couple of weeks ago we cleaned out the shop. It was filled to the brim with junk and stuff. One of the rooms was filled with kitchen cabinet doors, from his earlier work as kitchen cabinet maker. So these doors were leftovers for some reason or other. He says to me that I can use them. Okay. So now my poor brain has to come up with something to do with these doors. Obviously I'm trying to relate my stamping with it. The thing that came to my mind with the smaller doors is a frame of sorts. I've been wanting to use the Bible verse challenge on SCS too. So, here is my first project made for my husband. It's his birthday today!

LOVE WITHOUT END.

This is a swap card I made. In this swap we are to use retired SU stamps, so all the stamps used are retired: LOVE WITHOUT END, SMALL SCRIPT & CROSSHATCH. I know the stem is upsidedown, but this is done on purpose. I saw a card in which it had been done by mistake, but I really like it this way.
I like different folds, so I decided to use this Pop-up card. I think it's a great way to display your card, won't fall over so easy.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY HUMMINGBIRD

I watercolored 2 images of the Spring Song hummingbird the other day, as I have planned to make 2 cards when I make a card. But, I was just not happy with how my previous post turned out, so I did not use the watercolored images the same. So, I decided that the dp actually distracts from the image and went without it. I like it a lot better. The sentiment I believe is a Lizzie Ann stamp. So, this card goes out to my Mom! Unfortunately, the color is completely off. I guess it is the ligthing I used. (My excuse, it's cloudy outside) The real color of the card base is Rose Red, but it looks like Real Red, which actually does not look bad either. I'm glad it shows the shimmery white paper. The ribbon is a ribbon I found, which I had used to make some Xmas ornaments years ago. Decided to incorporate it in my cardmaking. I think it works.

SKETCH CHALLENGE 173

I can hardly believe that I am actually posting a challenge on the scheduled challenge day. This is my card for SC173 on SCS. I used the SPRING SONG SU! set. Stamped it with stasz-on onto shimmery white and watercolored it with blender pen and ink pad. Colors are ROSE RED, MELLOW MOSS, ALWAYS ARTICHOKE. The DP is from last years SU's idea book RECOLLECTIONS. I stamped FLORAL BGD on the solid Burgandy piece. First time trying out of the box image. Almost lost the beak trying this.

I must say, it has NEVER taken me so long to make a card!!! Yes, I know, it has been a long time since I made one, but this card literally took me one whole week to make. This card is last weeks Technique challenge on Splitcoaststampers. I like to see the challenges they have, and I really liked this one, so I started to make this card last week Monday, with all the intentions of finishing it. It just took me forever to really get it together, and now that I look at it, I think I will change some things. Doesn't look completely together to me. I love the SU SPRING FLING DP. I used different stamps to make this. The flowers are from the OFFICE ACOUTREMENTS SU set. The flourishes and one of the sentiments are from FRIENDSHIP BLOOMS. The other sentiment is a CLEAR G from Micheals set. The colors I used are PRETTY IN PINK, APRICOT APPEAL, CERTAINLY CELERY, SAGE GREEN and REGAL ROSE.

A LITTLE SOMETHING FOR YOU

Hi all! First of all I need to apologize for not being around this last month. I've been dealing with some personal stuff which could no longer be put on the back burner, which I had done for quite some time. I have been taking antidepressants for about 2 months which is now finally helping me. The 2 things which are still not in the right place are that I am always sleepy and I don't have motivation to create, which is in part due to the fact that I have to go downstairs in the dark basement to create. I know somebody suggested to bring my stuff upstairs. I have done that in the past and find that I am constantly needing to get some more things, and at the end I have so much to clean up that it is just not quite right for me.

Our LSS moved last week, so I HAD to go see their new store. It is such a fun place (I should get inspired, I know, but???). I was looking at the stamps (of course!) and this stamp just seemed to be yelling at me. I tried to ignore it, but it just would not let me go, so I finally gave in and brought it home with me. So, here it is and I want to give it to you. If you would like this stamp leave a comment on this post. I would love to know from you Mom's who have teenage girls, how did you tell your daughter about her period? My mom did an awful job and I want to do better. For you who do not have this situation, please leave a comment with an idea to get me back into my stamproom to create. I will select a winner on Sunday April 13th.

I am so thankful that Jesus died for me so that I can be saved. Just knowing that he knew every sin I would commit and he still died, gives me such reassurance of his LOVE for me. This is the joy I celebrate today!

Confessions of a stamp strumpet

In my house we have a craft cupboard. It contains standard craft materials: glue, tape, paper, markers, crayons, etc. One day a couple of years ago, I threw a rubber stamp up there and shut the door. Then not long after, I threw in another one. This was when I was young and naive and knew nothing of the reproductive abilities of stamps.

I have since been educated.

Rubber stamps have a remarkable ability to multiply. No one knows precisely how it happens, because it always occurs in the dark privacy of a craft cupboard, but multiply they do. Their offspring push the lids off the cute little plastic cases bought to contain them, and demand more space. They invite their friends, the stamp pads, to join them in their riotous living, and soon you’ve got yourselves a bona fide stamp-pad-rubber-stamp-orgy going on behind those unassuming doors.

It’s truly scandalous.

But I don’t know how to stop it. And frankly, I know I’m to blame. I failed somewhere to instill in these rubber stamps the importance of abstinance. Instead, I wantonly peruse the stamp aisle at Hobby Lobby. I flirt with the new arrivals like a common slattern. And, when I discovered that an acquaintance at church was an actual stamp pimp distributor of rubber stamps via a certain company known as Stampin’ UP! well…I’m ashamed to say that I accepted a catalog. And looked at it. And ordered from it.

This acquaintance, sensing weakness, moved in for the kill.

“Would you be interested in hosting a stamp party?” she asked, in an innocent, casual way. “You could earn free stamps!”

The lure was too much for me. I was teetering on the brink between casual-stamping and full-blown stamp-harlotry. And then I succombed to the siren-song and flung my moral compass into the black void where my self-control used to be. May God have mercy on my soul.

“Sure!” I replied. “Sounds like fun!”

And so the deed was done. The date is set. On Monday I will play madame hostess to a group of friends who love me so much they agreed to come (and believe me, you never know who your true friends are until you invite them to an MLM party of any ilk), and we will dabble. We will sample. We will fondle the merchandise and create a few cutesy crafts.

Some will resist temptation. I only came to have a chance to visit with you! They’ll insist brightly.

But they will buy a token stamp or two. And I will smile inwardly at their naivete. Because I know that they, too, have a craft cupboard at home with doors that shut upon quiet and innocent craft materials whose very lives are about to be forever disrupted by the presence of the ribald rubber reprobates.

It’s only a matter of time before they come back for more. And who am I to refuse them? The joys of stamping are too seductive for mere mortals to refuse.

It’s too late for me. But perhaps my tale of woe can still serve as a warning to others. Be mindful, dear readers. Craftyliciousness drives a hard bargain sometimes.

I finally got around to some stamping today. Since I'm lacking mojo it did take me awhile to come up with this card. I'm not incredibly impressed with it, but I think it's okay. I am trying to come up with a nice Easter card to send to family. Just thought I'd share it with you. First time I tried the faux-silk technique. Used an old but good set Easy Elegance.

Hi there,
Can you believe it? I actually stamped again. I was visiting my friend Kerry yesterday. She is also my SU demo. She let me make a card with her stamping toys. She is having a THREE IF A KIND class on Monday, and wanted to do a criss/cross card with this, so she asked me to make one. I feel so honored that she is going to use my card as a sample! It came together very quickly.
This was so much fun, that you will probably see more cards very soon.

DECONNECT - WHAT A CHALLENGE (FOR ME!)

I found this challenge to be disconnected here. This is a challenge for me, to take a day and not connect with anything that can be connected. I would say for myself that would be this computer. To take a day and not just admire the rest of you bloggers and stampers creations and do some creating myself. You might say that I have been rather disconnected lately. I do apologize. I have been dealing with some personal issues lately, which include not being motivated and inspired to create. So, I want to challenge myself to a day of not connecting online and creating myself. This will probably be Monday or Tuesday, as usually the weekend is full of other life for me. Want to join in this challenge?

GIRLY BRONC BUSTER

It's my dd Melanie's 9th birthday tomorrow. She really like the bronc buster set in the SU Spring/Summer catalog, so I decided to get it and make her birthday card with it. Now my challenge was to make it look girly. So I used pinks for it. I'm quite satisfied with how it turned out. It is different then what I had originally thought of. But, that's usually what happens too me. Can't create what I have in my head. I know that's weird. So you can add that to the list of weird things about me.

I know I said I would not do this too often, but I think I have a good excuse for this one. I made this card for my friend's Birthday. She is an avid cross-stitcher, so I think she will appreciate the yarn.
Hope you are having a great day! The weather here is just awful. It was snowing in the morning, then it started to rain quite heavy with strong winds. Not my favorite kind of day!

CAN COLD WATER CLEAN YOUR DISHES?

This is for all the germ conscious folks that worry about using cold water to clean.

John went to visit his 90 year old grandfather in a very secluded, rural area of Northern Alberta.
After spending a great evening chatting the night away, John’s grandfather prepared breakfast of bacon, eggs and toast. However, John noticed a film like substance on his plate and questioned his grandfather asking, “Are these plates clean?”
His grandfather replied, “They’re as clean as cold water can get them. Just you go ahead and finish your meal, Sonny!”
For lunch the old man made hamburgers. Again, John was concerned about the plates as his appeared to have tiny specks around the edge that looked like dried eggs and asked, “Are you sure these plates are clean?” Without looking up the old man said, “I told you before, Sonny, those dishes are as clean as cold water can get them. Now don’t you fret, I don’t want to hear another word about it!”
Later that afternoon, John was on his way to a nearby town and as he was leaving, his grandfather’s dog started to growl and wouldn’t let him pass. John yelled and said, “Grandfather, your dog won’t let me get to my car’. Without diverting his attention from the football game he was watching on TV, the old man shouted:
‘COLDWATER. GO LAY DOWN’!!!!!

HA, HA!!! So you thought I would give you a piece of advise, NOT!! Just thought I'd share a funny with you.
